What’s not mentioned in this article is that grant funding has been virtually stagnant for at least 15 YEARS, while the expectation from funders is that there is continuos growth, program expansion, and new programming—not to mention that the cost of everything has gone up. And it’s quite probable that if the Toronto Fringe cuts programming, the funders will just give them less. The arts should not be exclusively for those who are rich. Everyone should be able to afford to go. The arts deserve to be funded properly.

When clients or partners walk into your boardroom, you want to captivate them from the first moment to make an impactful first impression. The same goes for when guests arrive at our events. The first moments set the tone for their whole experience moving forward, so make it count:• Offer a welcome drink.• If people are walking around or standing, give them something to look at with an art installation or photo gallery that tells your story.• Play music – even better if it’s live .• Consider how your venue sets the tone for your event. If you're in a music hall, make sure there's local talent playing. Make the most of a historic building's architecture to create a grand arrival experience.Get in touch to start planning an event to create a lasting impression!#BbEvents #BeccaTopTip

Ever heard of Habibi Kiosk? A Bold Move For Munich’s Main TheaterCulture in Munich is mutating into new perspectives at Habibi Kiosk ; the success at its privileged location addresses difficult questions about the city.Although the Habibi Kiosk looks like an independent cultural space, it is actually the bold appendix of the publicly-funded Kammerspiele theater of the city of Munich. Locally renowned, this theater is difficult to spot from the outside. Its building, Schauspielhaus, is absorbed into the hom*ogenous architecture of the Maximilianstrasse. In contrast, the Habibi Kiosk has been cannily shoved under people's noses on the high street. In a city whereone in fourresidents hails from an immigrant community, the theater’s team began exploring the following question: Is Munich's urban society – with all its different perspectives – represented at the theater of the city (financed with everyone’s taxes)? In other words, can we find a fair representation of all citizens here at the theater?#culturechange #munich #HabibiKiosk #theater #inclusive #cities #culturematters

Last Saturday, we'd planned to visit two exhibitions, one in Kensington High Street, the other at King's Cross. This would involve a little bit of jiggery pokery on the tubes at the best of times, but on Saturday, planned engineering works and unplanned signal failures played havoc with the system. So we walked quite a bit further than we'd intended, through a part of the city we hadn't been in for a while.I'm so glad we did.Because by taking the less straightforward route we discovered Jamboree. A world music venue near King's Cross.*We walked in, in search of a cup of tea, and found a circle of folk musicians jamming. It might just be my new favourite place. A perfect replacement for the much-missed Vintage Emporium in Bacon Street.Refreshment and delight, both physical and mental, found by taking the long way round.A reminder that detours can be delightful. The point for your business?Your customer experience processes should cover the most likely eventualities. But it's impossible to design for every one of them. So don't try.It *is* possible to ensure all detours are delightful. Even unexpected ones.Especially if you put humans in charge, with your Promise clear in their heads and hearts.Put your effort into doing that instead.Discipline makes Daring possible.*They do an Argentinian Tango Tuesday! The advantages of musical fountains:1.
