Fog machines transformed the property as nearly six dozen people from a production company in California set the scene for the movie.

THERE IS EXCITEMENT IN ATTENDANCE AS ONE OF THE CITY’S LANDMARKS IS SET TO HIT THE BIG SCREEN KMBC NINE’S PEYTON HEADLEE IS LIVE OUTSIDE THE MANSION WITH MORE HI, PEYTON. YEAH, BRYA WELL, IT WAS QUITE THE SCENE FOR NEIGHBORS TO SEE THE COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION OF THE VAIL MANSION. IT WAS ABOUT TWO DAYS OF CAMERAS, CREWS AND LIGHTS HERE, BUT IT IS EXCITING NEWS FOR THE STORIED LANDMARK PARK. THERE’S MORE THAN A CENTURY WORTH OF STORIES INSIDE THE VAIL MANSION IN INDEPENDENCE. SOME ARE TOLD THROUGH THE ORIGINAL PAINTINGS LEFT ON THE CEILINGS IN VINO VERITAS, OTHERS THE ART HUNG UP ON THE WALLS. YOU CAN SEE THINGS. SOME ARE EVEN HIDDEN IN THE WOOD. CAN YOU SEE THE LITTLE FACES? FROM A FAMILY HOME TO A NURSING HOME AND MENTAL INSTITUTION, THE NOW HISTORIC LANDMARK HAS SOME RANGE. THERE WAS A LOT OF REALLY INTERESTING HISTORY TO THIS HOUSE. WHEN YOU CONSIDER 1881, IT’S A TREASURE TROVE OF HISTORY THAT EVEN SOME PEOPLE LIVING IN TOWN HAVE NEVER SEEN. PEOPLE WALK IN AND THEY’LL JUST THEY’RE AMAZED AND LIKE, I’VE LIVED HERE ALL MY LIFE, I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THIS WAS HERE. AND IT’S LIKE, REALLY SOON THE MANSION WILL TAKE ON NEW LIFE. JUST LAST WEEKEND, IT WAS THE SITE OF A BIG MOVIE SHOOT. THIS, OH MY LORD, THIS WAS HUGE. FOG MACHINES TRANSFORMED THE PROPERTY AS NEARLY SIX DOZEN PEOPLE FROM A PRODUCTION COMPANY IN CALIFORNIA SET THE SCENE OF A HORROR MOVIE. IT REALLY LOOKED EERIE FOR THE TWO DAY SHOOT. THE MANSION WAS REIMAGINED AS A HOSPITAL FOR THE FILM. THE LIVE IN IT WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. IT WAS IT WAS A BIG DEAL, A BIG DEAL FOR A HISTORIC LANDMARK THAT’S TRYING TO GET MORE PEOPLE IN THE DOOR. THIS THE IDEA THEY GIVE US CREDIT ON THEIR MOVIE. IT’S A NEW STORY. THEY CAN ADD TO THE LIST. DATING BACK TO 1881. SO IT’S JUST ONE MORE WAY TO GET YOUR NAME OUT THERE. AND IT’S NOT CLEAR WHEN THAT FILM WILL COME OUT. There's excitement in Independence as one of their landmarks is set to hit the big screen.A film crew descended upon the Vaile Mansion for a two-day shoot of a horror movie over the weekend. "This, oh my Lord, this was huge,” Sandee Dougherty, the president of the Vaile Victorian Society, said. “It really looked eerie."Fog machines transformed the property as nearly six dozen people from a production company in California set the scene for the movie.“They ended up being here 24 hours. They did 12 hours from 6 to 6 Friday night. And from 6 to 6 Saturday night,” Dougherty said. “We were just amazed.”Over the two-day shoot, Dougherty said the mansion was reimagined as a hospital. She said the movie will be called “The Live In.” They’re excited for the attention it can bring to the mansion and the history its holds. “It's the idea they give us credit on their movie lines,” Dougherty said. “It’s just one more way to get your name out there.” It's not clear when the movie will be released, but Dougherty said they'll post on their Facebook page once they know.
